Description of Vacancy

Responsible to the Senior Parking Officer (Parking Services), you will support the administration officers in tasks relating to the Councils Parking Service. Tasks include data input, filing, assisting with bulk printing, stock monitoring and assisting with all other duties related to the administration section.

An opportunity to work in a fast-paced customer focussed service by responding to customers with parking and permit related enquiries.

  • To provide support and assistance to departments by engaging with and responding to customer and colleague enquiries.
  • The post holder will learn and gain an academic qualification and will also obtain valuable experience within the parking services sector. This post will provide an insight on how the local authorities implements and enforces parking restrictions.
  • To provide a range of administrative duties including bulk printing, photocopying, filing, message taking, stock monitoring, sorting and distributing post.
  • To respond to routine correspondence and enquiries from members of the public, suppliers and staff.
  • To deal with all customer contact effectively, and courteously, in line with the council’s policies and procedures.
  • To maintain manual and computerised systems including inputting data, keeping records, statistics, confidential and general filing systems as directed.
  • To undertake any other administration job related tasks as required.

Wage

£236.80 per week

Hours

37 hours per week

Working Monday - Friday

20% paid time during working hours is given to complete training, referred to as "Off the Job Training"

Qualifications Required

GCSE Grade 9 - 4 (or A - C) in English and Maths as a minimum. Or equivalent qualifications in these subjects.

5 GCSE's or equivalent Grade 9-4 (or A-C) preferred.

Training Provided

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Standard - Business administrators have a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in all sectors. This includes small and large businesses alike; from the public sector, private sector and charitable sector. The role may involve working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services. Business administrators develop key skills and behaviours to support their own progression towards management responsibilities.

Additional Detail

As of 1st April 2024, the NMW for Apprentices is £6.40 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.
