The Timu Academy Trust is made up of two schools, Bobbing Village and Iwade School, both are based in Sittingbourne, Kent. Currently rated by Ofsted as Good (Iwade) and Outstanding (Bobbing). Each school has its own individual characteristics and sits at the centre of their community.

DESCRIPTION OF VACANCY
You will be expected to
• assist as a member of the administrative team in providing efficient, comprehensive administrative support to the school.
• act as point of contact for all school enquiries either by telephone, email or face to face
• maintain the smooth and efficient running of the reception area.
• work collaboratively with all staff and parents in order to support pupil well being.
• liaise, with tact and diplomacy with school staff and others outside the school, particularly parents, professional agencies and the local community.
Our vacancy will include:-
• Establish and maintain good relationships with all students, parents/carers, colleagues, suppliers, contractors and other professionals.
• Assist the school team to ensure the effective operation of the school office including reception area, so that all aspects of the administrative function are conducted efficiently and accurately.
• Provide efficient administrative support to her/his line manager and the school’s senior leadership team (SLT).
• Support her/his line manager in maintaining communication with governors, professional bodies, outside agencies, other schools and organisations etc. and s/he shall attend to associated queries as required.
• Support administrative procedures and systems, following controls and ensuring they comply with policies and procedures, to include:
• Club administration
• Updating school diary
• Cool Milk and school fruit
• Leave of absence requests
• Administration of medicines
• Maintaining pupil registers
• Be responsible for the circulation of incoming mail and outgoing post, taking appropriate action as necessary.
• Assist with the maintenance and updating of information held on school database/s including student records, emergency contacts and data required for the completion of returns, for example, for the DFE.
• Assist in the entry and extraction of data, the collation and preparation of statistics, management information and reports as required by her/his line manager, governors, auditors, the local authority and the DFE.
• Assist with the annual and on-going free school meal applications for students, ensuring procedures are followed and required documentation is obtained from parents/carers, and that registers are kept up to date.
• Liaise with the Trust Finance Team, assist in the administration of financial systems such as processing orders, school meal takings, and collection of trip monies.
• Assist in transferring data safely when database system/s are introduced and/or changed.
• Assist in the setting up and maintenance of archive files and historical data.
• S/he shall provide assistance to staff with regard to administrative matters within the school.
• Report technical faults relating to the school database system/s and equipment to the ICT Technician/s in accordance with school reporting procedures.
• Ensure that all administrative duties, checks, documentation, reports and returns (internal and external) are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
• Ensure compliance within the school of data protection regulations.
• To answer incoming calls, dealing with requests and enquiries and taking messages as required.
• Deal with correspondence promptly and as required.
• Attend school events as required.
• Participate in school emergencies as required, including evacuation arrangements, locating students and relevant staff, providing contact details and completing necessary documentation.
• Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
• Keep up to date with developments and changes to school policies and procedures and communicate these to colleagues as appropriate.
• Support her/his line manager in providing information to the headteacher, governing body and its committees as appropriate and when required.
• Shall undertake first aid training and responsibilities as required.
The hours are 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year. You will be paid £4.81 per hour, actual pro rata salary £7,980 (based on 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.)

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Standard – Teaching Assistants work in Primary, Special and Secondary education across all age ranges encompassing special educational needs and emotional vulnerabilities. The primary role of the Teaching Assistant is to support the class teacher to enhance pupils’ learning either in groups or individually, ensuring pupils understand the work set, know their learning objectives and stay on task in order to make progress.
Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
As of 1st April 2022, the NMW for Apprentices is £4.81 per hour. This applies to 16 - 18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.
