Charing Surgery is a busy and expanding training practice providing healthcare services to a large rural area. We strive to offer as many services to the community as possible so our patients don’t have to travel. As well as regular GP/Nurse led clinics we also offer services to include child health, urology, ultrasound, chronic pain, walking group, weight management, community gardening groups and smoking cessation.
Description of Vacancy
Ensure that patients are able to access health services including contact/make an appointment to see a doctor in the appropriate manner depending on need and that all patient records are up-to-date and available for all users when required.
The purpose of the job is also to contribute to maintaining practice administrative systems such as data input, new patient registrations, correspondence and results.
- Handling incoming calls and enquiries
- Dealing with patients face to face at the front desk .
- Scanning and recording patient information
- Data input on to patient notes
- Work flowing incoming results
- Booking appointments
£3.75 per hour
Monday – Friday 9am – 4.30pm with an unpaid lunch break of 1 hour = 32.5 hours per week
Minimum achieved Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths.

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.
Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
As of 1st April 2018, the NMW for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour. This applies to 16 - 18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.
The employer has asked that you do not contact them direct. Doing so could jeopardise your application. You will be responsible for your travel expenses to and from your place of work.
