DESCRIPTION OF VACANCY
This is an first step of working in a busy office assisting our freight forwarders by working closely with customers, colleagues and third parties to ensure smooth operations to deadlines and maintaining communication and control through all phases of the journey, including the production of management reports and statistical and unit cost analysis.
This is an opportunity to join a team where there is the possibility of future full-time employment.
Full training for the following tasks and responsibilities will be provided with the apprentice progressing and refining their knowledge during the length of the apprenticeship.
Answering phones and responding to customer inquiries.
Arranging appropriate packing, and the delivery and warehousing of goods at their destination.
Obtaining, checking and preparing documentation to meet customs and insurance requirements, packing specifications, and compliance with overseas countries’ regulations and fiscal regimes.
Arranging insurance and assisting the client in the event of a claim.
Arranging payment and other charges or collection of payment on behalf of the client.
Develop knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations and other factors that could affect the movement of shipments.(Brexit)
Learn how to investigate plan the most appropriate route for a shipment.
Initially £3.90 an hour however there will be additional remuneration taking travel into account.
Additionally, the wage will be reviewed and potentially increased with performance.
Monday through Friday
40 hours a week spread between 7:00 to 19:00
Depending on business need.
Clear written and oral communication
Computer Literate and competent in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Methodical and organised
Able to work accurately with good attention to detail
Flexibility and adaptability to changing workloads
A-C GCSE in Maths & English
On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.
Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
As of 1st April 2019, the NMW for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour. This applies to 16 - 18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.
The employer has asked that you do not contact them direct. Doing so could jeopardise your application. You will be responsible for your travel expenses to and from your place of work.
