Based in their Watling Street Cemetry Site, Dartford, you will be working as one of a three-person team the Bereavement Services.  Our Bereavement Services Apprentice (BSA) will contribute to the daily successes of the team by carrying out admin duties relating to burials, memorial applications and other matters. The BSA will have a major input into the digitisation of historical burial records onto the BACAS system. The BSA will be trained to help the Bereavement Services Manager and Officer will all aspects of burial and cemetery management.

  • Helping to provide a customer focussed front line service for the bereaved and other cemetery users
  • Assisting the Bereavement Services Manager and Officer with a variety of general and day to day administration duties
  • The digitisation of historical burial records on to the BACAS system
  • Providing support to the gravedigger/gardener team


£153.55 per week


Monday to Thursday 08:45 to 17:15 (7.5 hours per day)

Fridays 08:45 to 16:45 (7.0 hours per day)

37 hours per week (paid)

1-hour lunch per day (unpaid)


Good verbal / communication ability

Thoroughness and attention to detail






GCSE Maths and English 4/C or above or equivalent.


On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.

Additional Detail

As of 1st April 2020, the NMW for Apprentices is £4.15 per hour. This applies to 16 - 18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.
