An excellent opportunity to start a career working with children to support their education and social development as an apprentice Teaching Assistant.
There are two positions available.
- Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the Headteacher, Provision Manager and class teachers.
- Assist in the implementation of learning programmes for pupils and help assess, monitor and record their progress.
- Provide support for individual pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
- Work with parents/carers, other professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, as necessary.
- Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records.
- Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
- Provide one to one support for pupils with specific difficulties as required.
- Attend to pupils’ personal care needs as required and assist with the development of hygiene, toilet training and general dressing programmes.
- Prepare and present learning resources to support pupil learning.
- Support class teachers in preparation of differentiation and other tasks in order to support teaching.
- Undertake other duties from time to time as the headteacher requires.

- Support the aims and ethos of the school.

- Attend team and staff meetings as required.
- Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
- Undertake professional duties that may be reasonably assigned by the headteacher.
Expect a list of other duties that the headteacher may from time to time ask you to perform.
£4.25 per hour
£122.18 per week
Monday to Friday
8.30am to 3.15pm
Term Time only (38 weeks per year)
28.75 hours per week (plus half hour per day lunch duty = 31.25 hours per week)

- Education to a minimum of GCSE standard to include English and Mathematics (Grade 4 minimum or equivalent qualifications in these subjects)
On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Standard – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.
Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
As of 1st April 2019, the NMW for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour. This applies to 16 - 18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.
