We are a busy NHS GP Practice serving the local community of Hamstreet, providing healthcare and preventative treatments. Ensuring each patient individual needs and experience are our first consideration and at the heart of everything we do. The surgery is a training practise for GP’s, nurses & medical students.

DESCRIPTION OF VACANCY

This vacancy is to join other health care professionals delivering vital services to patients who are on the journey of improving or maintaining their health. You will need to demonstrate a positive and professional impression of yourself and the GP Practice by delivering customer service to patients and visitors alike. The role includes a variety of administrative support to members of the practice team.

To work as part of the reception team.  Your role will involve

Managing patient requests in person, on the phone and via written communication

Booking, amending, rescheduling and cancelling patient appointments

Processing new patient registrations

Action patient care follow- up arrangements as per clinicians instructions

Advising patients of chargeable services and processing payments

Providing patients with information about the Practice Services

General housekeeping of surgery areas

Arranging transport and home visits

Managing medical records, scanning medical letters, photocopying, post etc

Ensuring confidentiality and data protection is observed at all times.

WAGE

£6.50 per hour

HOURS

37.5 hours per week

Mon: 4 hours study from home

Tues: 9am – 5pm

Wed: 9 am – 5 pm

Thur: 9 am – 7 pm

Fri:     8am -5:30pm

30-minute unpaid lunch break

SKILLS REQUIRED

Good interpersonal skills, positive engagement, building relationships, questioning and listening skills. Good written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate patience, empathy and problem-solving skills when dealing with any possible conflict.

PERSONAL QUALITIES

This is a very busy environment where you will need to deal with people who are ill, worried and sometimes upset and confused. You need to remain calm and behave in a professional manner at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

GCSE Maths and English 4 to 9 or equivalent

TRAINING PROVIDED

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.

 

Additional Detail

As of 1st April 2021, the NMW for Apprentices is £4.30 per hour. This applies to 16 - 18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.

Important Information

Therefore, you must have the means to get to your place of work on a daily basis whilst waiting for your first wages to be paid.
