New Century Nursery is a private, independent children’s day nursery offering high-quality year-round childcare to 0-5 year olds.
DESCRIPTION OF VACANCY
Our Apprentice will be part of a friendly, experienced, and long-standing staff team.
They will be trained to be able to provide care for children from birth to 5 years old, to assist in many aspects of their daily lives through social, emotional, educational, and practical interaction, nurturing and guidance.
You will help to maintain and organise a clean, tidy, child-friendly environment, supervise activities such as messy play, crafts, reading, and outdoor/physical play.
You will be able to observe, plan, and keep records that inform parents and carers about their child’s progress and achievements.
Under supervision, provide all aspects of care for children including washing, changing, and feeding.
Assist with meeting the personal and emotional needs of individual children.
Provide meaningful, caring, proactive adult interaction with children in the nursery.
Be aware and have regard for all of the nurseries policies and procedures including safeguarding, code of conduct, working policies, and the confidentiality policy.
Attend all out of working hours activities, e.g. training, staff meetings, parents’ evenings, etc.
Contribute to good standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the Nursery.
To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from different cultures, religious backgrounds, and stages of development.
3.90 an hour going up to 4.15 in April.
Between 6-10 hour shifts between 8AM-6PM

GCSE (or equivalent) Grade A-C/4-9 is required in English or Maths, with a minimum of Grade E/2 in the other subject if you also have completed a GCSE (or equivalent) Grade A-E/2-9 in ICT.
On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.
Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
As of 1st April 2019, the NMW for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour. This applies to 16 - 18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.
The employer has asked that you do not contact them direct. Doing so could jeopardise your application. You will be responsible for your travel expenses to and from your place of work.
