DESCRIPTION OF VACANCY

If you are looking to start your career, and are interested in working in Environmental Health and Safety, then look no further.   This fast-paced, busy role with a global contract development and manufacturing organisation could be perfect for you.

In this apprenticeship, you will play a key role within a small team of EHS specialists who oversee and coordinate the safety of of hundreds of staff.  You will provide crucial assistance to this process with administrative support – including logging report forms, observing inspections, and assisting with audits.

As part of the process you will learn from a supportive team and there will be real scope to progress within the company once you have completed your apprenticeship.

This is a fast-paced and busy role.  Tasks will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Carry out EHS administration tasks using all EHS systems
  • Log EHS report forms
  • Adding and removing employees from EHS systems
  • Attend to observe EHS inspections and audits
  • Assist in auditing and updating EHS procedure folders
  • Any reasonable request made by the EHS Manager/Advisor

HOURS

37.5 working hours per week:

Monday – Thursday: 09:00 – 17:30
Friday: 09:00 – 16:15

Each day includes an unpaid 45-minute break

WAGE

£211.00 per week

£5.65 per hour

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Basic IT skill (Office, Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Good written communication skills
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Has good organisation skills
  • Is willing to undertake an EHS qualification

PERSONAL QUALITIES

The successful candidate should be able to use their initiative and have a desire and ambition to develop their skills.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

GCSE (or equivalent) Grade A-C/4-9 is required in English and Maths.

TRAINING PROVIDED

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.

Additional Detail

As of 1st April 2020, the NMW for Apprentices is £4.15 per hour. This applies to 16 - 18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.

Important Information
