Family Fostering is a small and dedicated team with extensive experience in fostering.  Teresa and Debi have worked together in a private fostering agency since 2002.

Between us we have expertise in all roles within fostering from the assessment and reviewing of foster carers, delivering training programmes and workshops, providing the day to day support and supervision, and managing and developing a foster service.

In addition to this we all have previous experience of setting up and delivering services for young people and their families and Teresa and Debi have experience of being a fostering family.

Our shared passion and vision of providing high quality practical, emotional and therapeutic support to foster carers and the children in their care, inspired and motivated us to join Family Fostering.

DESCRIPTION OF VACANCY

This apprenticeship is a great way to develop key transferrable administrative skills whilst working within a small and friendly team.

Family Fostering strives to improves the lives of foster carers and the children in their care through the provision of a wide range of support. The service recently received an OFSTED grade of ‘Good’ with it’s Leadership and Management being graded as ‘Outstanding’.

Their apprenticeship opportunity is ideal for somebody who is looking to kick-start their career working for a great cause.  You will learn from an experienced and supportive team and there will be scope for your role to evolve as your experience develops.

Your role will be busy and varied and due to the nature of the work, the daily workload will not always be predictable!

Key tasks will include – but are not limited to – the following:

– Answering the telephone, transferring calls and taking messages accordingly

-Uploading training records to the central database and flagging when renewals are due
– Checking through the weekly notes from Foster Carers, picking out information to put in various monitoring systems and identifying follow-up actions where required

– Taking minutes of meetings

– Auditing files, identifying missing documents, and chasing where required

– Checking, scanning and storing Health & Safety/ Insurance certificates and other documents as required

– Helping to organise events for foster children and their carers

WAGE

£146.25 weekly

HOURS

37.5 working hours per week:

Monday – Friday: 09:00 – 17:00

Includes a half hour lunch-break (unpaid) each day

SKILLS REQUIRED

We are looking for somebody who is adaptable and organised, who will use their initiative to prioritise tasks.

Good ICT skills and attention to detail are also welcome.

PERSONAL QUALITIES

We are looking for somebody with an open and patient approach, who has a good sense of humour.

Due to the nature of the role, we can only accept applications from those aged 18+

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Minimum Grade C / 4 in English
Minimum Grade D / 3 in Maths

Any offer of the apprenticeship will be subject to a DBS check and 2 references.

TRAINING PROVIDED

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.

 

Additional Detail

As of 1st April 2019, the NMW for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour. This applies to 16 - 18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.

Important Information

Therefore, you must have the means to get to your place of work on a daily basis whilst waiting for your first wages to be paid.
