Grace’s Work Ready Extra Success Story
With KT&A’s Work Ready Extra programme we offer a work placement of up to 12 weeks to help get you experience in the industry sector that you want to be a part of.
Take a look at some of the feedback and comment we have received from one of our learners Grace who has been working with a youth project AOCA on getting some of the key work skills she needs for the future.
“I have been working at AOCA with Tony to start a project called ‘Sheppey Feed Me’. The project is close to my heart as it is all about helping young people get a healthy meal and learn about cooking and food.
I have been helping raise support by contacting local organisations
and churches to see if they can help out with food donations and sharing their cooking skills. I have also enrolled on the NHS Food Champion Programme so I will be able to better advise our participants.
I very much enjoy being a part of the AOCA team as it is a very supportive, caring place to work”
Tony Duke who runs the project and employed Grace as part of her Work Ready Extra programme can’t praise the benefits of work placements enough.
“It has been a great help for AOCA to have Grace working with us on the project, it is good that she is involved from the beginning and has helped to set the direction of the project. She has been involved in graphic design, letter writing, telephone calls, speaking with retailers and potential volunteers. She has also worked out equipment requirements and costs for a funding bid.
It seems more difficult for young people to get a job these days so it is a pleasure to be in a position to provide work experience opportunities for people like Grace who just need a chance to develop their skills”.
No matter what industry you are interested in at KT&A we provide work placements across all sectors and can help you get the experience you need to reach your full potential.
