Consultation launched looking into the future funding of traineeships
A consultation looking into a future funding reform for Traineeships for those aged 16-24 was launched today by Skills and Enterprise Minister Matthew Hancock.
Traineeship funding is currently delivered using the same arrangements as for further education, rather than having its own specific approach. The consultation proposes that training providers are funded based on the trainee’s progression onto a job, apprenticeship, or further learning.
Matthew Hancock said “This consultation will test whether a funding approach designed specifically for traineeships, rather than based on existing arrangements, could produce better results for young people. We also want to make the experience more consistent, regardless of which department is responsible for funding.”
